About Us
As a business with heart, we strive to build relationships and deliver training through the ubuntu principles.

About the Founder - Joshua Barnbrook

I grew up in South Africa - a country with the most breathtaking beauty, heart rendering adversity and awe inspiring humanity and resilience - where ubuntu is not just a philosophy but an active part of our everyday lives. Since I moved to the UK in 2001, that sense of ubuntu I was raised with, has guided me through the ups and downs of life.  It is this resilience and determination which has been the root of my success, which I strive to share with you.

I accidentally discovered my passion for training as a new restaurant manager for a well-known chain and since then I have worked in a very broad range of roles and industries. I have worked on my own and as a part of teams, I have managed large and small teams and coached my colleagues to success. I am sharing this so that you know that some of the challenges that you’re facing right now in your business or individually, I have experienced too.

“Where have you worked then Josh?”, I hear you say. To make ends meet at University, I was a housekeeper, student ambassador and community facilitator. I have been a restaurant manager, a Learning and Development professional for a contract caterer, a teaching assistant for children with additional needs, led speech and Lego therapy groups for children and taught first aid for the British Red Cross. More recently I have managed a Learning and Development team for a charity working with homeless young people and hold a position as a Learning and Development Consultant for a large Local Authority.

I've been fortunate to work with utterly brilliant colleagues and friends who have helped me and whom I’ve learned from.  You see, I am not an island and the best managers and leaders realise this. Those that succeed despite the odds realise this. It’s the strength we find in vulnerability that helps us admit and learn when we’ve made a mistake. It’s the courage to be different that helps us to be innovative and its our authenticity that gains trust. We are because of those around us.

Social Responsibility Statement

"Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world." Desmond Tutu

We also follow Maya Angelou’s school of thought in that we try our best but when we know better, we do better.

Therefore, we strive to include those with lived experience in the design and delivery of our courses and training solutions where possible. We strongly believe that although progress may seem slow, progress is overdue and we will support all learners, businesses and colleagues who have experienced any form of discrimination in any way that we can.
